Branda "Tall" Cobra Vavle Covers

I'm sooo frustrated...

Sherman, dial the way-back machine to around the middle of
February... Picture Rich, intrepid '65 Mustang Restorer,
visiting his "parts" at the local Engine shop... He's
just delivered these trick Cobra valve covers that will
allow him to retain the "original look" under the hood, while
running roller-rockers... We overhear...

"Hey, Bob, look here, no Baffles. Do I need 'em?" Rich questions....

Bob replies, "We'll see, if there is oil all over your engine
compartment after we start it up, probably.... But they're easy
to fabricate, not a problem..."

A picture drives itself into Rich's memory (probably driven
there by some Alien...), the picture of four little standoffs
cast into the Valve covers already drilled, that could be
later used for mounting the baffles...

... later on... we recall... A few messages on this board
discussing baffles (actually started by Rich we think) and
how to mount them... Someone actually replied with "I
had the same problem, used 3x5 cards to build a template,
and built them out of brass... not a problem..."

Now, we return to the present... Rich finally takes the
time to pull off a valve cover and begin this "simple
fabrication".... But, wait... What is this!?! Where are
those stand-offs Rich remembers distinctly? There doesn't
even appear to be the ground off leavings if someone had
removed them for clearance! What physical
or meta-physical (or likely Chemical, knowing Rich...) laws
are being twisted here.

D)(&$%mn, I could swear they existed! Now, it seems if I want
to do something about this (and I am seeing oil on the covers,
and oil in the PCV line) I'll have to cobble something up (actually,
there is a baffle of sorts in the fill hole, sort of a plate with
holes in it... It doesn't work, but it does support nicely the piece
of industrial, stainless, brillo pad I stuck there that seems to slow
down the oil more... I haven't figured out a similar solution for the
PCV tube that I "like"

I suppose I could just bite the bullet (billet?) and mount baffles
anyway, through the side, and trust self-tapping screws and JB-weld
to stop leaks and my grinding skills for appearance... But...

And there is always just buying a set of the taller Motorsports
Vavle covers which at least advertise baffles... Karl, how much
for those? (-6582-E302)

Grumble....

And don't get me started about the Speedo cable...

Just had to whine...
Rich
