I'd just say that welding isn't painting. If you absord welding spatter through your skin, you scream and run away. If you're going to shoot any of the modern paints (acrylic, ureathane, etc) you'll need to keep it off your skin - full face mask, paint suit, etc. You could probably adapt the air supply system mentioned to a good paint mask. Just don't cheap out - you can really hurt yourself. ALSO - check into the new water-soluable base coats. You can now shoot the color with just a regular paint mask. You'll still need superior protection to apply the clear coat. It doesn't have to cost $1000: http://www.autobodystore.com/SprayBooth.htm [lifted from another site] Caution - Almost all 2k products contain isocyanates and require very good respirators during use. These products should not be sprayed without a supplied air respirator. Using anything less is a risky proposition. For more info visit this OSHA link: http://www.osha.gov/SLTC/isocyanates/index.html On Tue, 5 Oct 2004 11:12:25 -0400, atrav wrote > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "atrav" <atrav at vcmails.com> > > Jackson wants like $1000+++ for their Shadowaire system new, especially their Shadowaire II. > > I got the filter/pump from eBay for $50, the orange Shadowaire I, and the mask was like $20 from > > Home Depot.
