So I'd guess that just about any 15" wheel will work, as long as it's the correct bolt pattern. I've recently developed some health issues and the Gal is going to have to take a backseat, so to speak, to other things. She's a Z code, 4 speed, and other than neglect from previous owners, hasn't been messed with. She's got some rust in the floor, rockers and rear quarters, but nothing that's too bad. Drivers floor is worst place and I have already purchased a new pan for that. 390 has shorty cast irons on it. I've got the old Gal apart but she's still sitting on 4 wheels and will roll. All the side stainless is very good with almost no dings. Interior chrome is pitted but interior dash and door trim is good. Needs brite dip. Bumpers are good. T-10 has been overhauled and the shifter rebuilt and chromed by Bill Heely. He does very nice work. Have been buying lots of parts over the last few months including front end overhaul kits, frt springs, all the rubber for the convert top, etc. All parts are in Tupperware bins and plastic zip locks, labeled and separated. I'll let her go pretty right if someone is interested. She's in Southern Kalifornia, Corona to be exact, and I will be happy to show her to anyone interested. Also have a pretty good electronic photo file if anyone needs to see anything. Call me during business hours or on the cell at 951-315-0058. Thanks! Michael A. My father's friend (a mechanic who specializes in GM restorations) thought it might be the wires going to the engine from the firewall, but replacing those didn't change anything. I've changed the Ignition Switch already, and was recently told that it could be the ignition pigtail, but cannot find one for the life of me. I live in the New England area so if anyone has ANY idea where I can get one I would greatly appreciate it. I've had this car garaged for most of last year and it is just killing me that I haven't been able to take it out yet this year. Thank you! What are the symptoms? It's never good to just throw money into it to solve a problem without understanding it first. Shorting out means wires that touch each other or one or more wires that contacts a 'ground' such as the body or fenders, etc. More clues will get more educated responses, I would imagine. Message-ID: <753486.59794.qm@web53712.mail.re2.yahoo.com> Aloha everyone! I'm working on 66 Galaxie with a 289, auto trans, no a/c, no p/s and when we turn the key we can hear a loud click from the starter, but nothing else happens. I have a bunch of parts in stock, and this car is getting sold anyway, so we tried to solve the problem by throwing new parts at it. We replaced the solenoid, the voltage regulator, the starter, battery cables, fuses, and because I had nothing else to do, we rebuilt the carb. But nothing so far has worked. Any suggestions? A battery that can't hold enough of a charge will engage the gear on the starter but won't have enough juice to turn the engine (that's the clunk). Even if it reads 12volts it still could be bad. Do a load test on the battery, any parts store can do this. -----Original Message----- From: Tropicars Classic Car Rentals To: galaxie at lists.twistedpair.ca Sent: Mon, Jun 22, 2009 8:46 pm Subject: [GALAXIE] Car won't start.... Can you physically turn the engine over at the crank? Try bumping the solenoid with a screwdriver between battery side cable and closest terminal - should turn it over. If so, might be ign. switch problem. If not, could be frozen or could be that "new" starter. Had several "rebuilds" in the past that didn't work... Good one - keep us posted. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tropicars Classic Car Rentals" To: "A list for Ford Galaxie owners." My father's friend (a mechanic who specializes in GM restorations) thought it might be the wires going to the engine from the firewall, but replacing those didn't change anything. Thank you! The ground is taken care of where the lights, or whatever device is being powered up, attaches to the body of the car (or the frame or engine). There may be a relay or something at or near the fuse box that needs ground to complete that circuit, but a ground, as you suggest, with a screw to the firewall would be adequate. I just added an auxiliary fuse panel to my '63 to power up some new goodies (no room for anything extra in a '63 fuse panel). All of the wires going to the fuse panel are power wires, the ground happens at the far end of the circuit where the device attaches to the car. I hope this helps, Al bj ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tropicars Classic Car Rentals" To: "A list for Ford Galaxie owners."
