I also need to have a new retainer welded on to the floor pan to hold gas tank up. (the piece in which gas tank straps hook into the frame one side rotted out) Was wondering if anyone can recommend a good shop to have this done around the long island area that will not cost me a arm and a leg. I would try your local Ford dealer parts dept if I wanted a Motorcraft carb kit. I have been using, with good success, Hygrade carb kits and floats. They are from the same people who make Blue Streak ignition parts. Company name is Standard Motor Products. I'm sure you can find this brand at a good parts house. I use these rather than Motorcraft, it has become increasingly difficult to get anything for a carb from Ford, in Canada. bj ----- Original Message ----- From: "ATG" To: ; "'A list for Ford Galaxie owners.'" I for one wouldn't join a club where I got attacked for not realizing I couldn't post there and ask for help. But not my club, not my problem. I will say there are many ford forums that have been just as helpful or more so in some cases and members direct you to sites or people that might help in whatever problem you are having or part you are looking for. The world is full of different types of people and we just have to take the good with the bad and sometimes it's a bad day and not the personality of the person at all times.:) I like checking out all the lists so don't stick to just one. Sometimes you can't get the answers you need in one exclusive group and a person can gather more info about whatever topic from many. Deb In a message dated 3/25/2009 2:30:36 P.M. I simply stated that so and so and so and so had the parts most likely but I simply am not allowed to hand out phone number to folks that are not our members. It wasn't done in an evil and twisted despotic way to cause Holden to have to feel he was a victim of a malicious vehement attack against his whatever. You know, we all live in a I'm not supposed to feel bad society now... Anyhow, as posted before, the BENEFITS of membership are way more than just finding a few parts or sending E-mails to each other... Bi monthly magazine dedicated to Galaxies including vendor advertising for Galaxie related services and parts. Free advertising up to 3 times per year, 50 words or less. Free advertising with 2 pictures once per year on the club web site. (If you were to take out a 50 word ad three times a year in Hemmings, the cost would be close to $60.00. Our ads reach Galaxie owners and people interested in Galaxies only. Hemmings reaches many folks who could care less. Not bad for $40 per year!) Access to tech advisors who can save you many hours of time and lots of headaches. Discounts from certain vendors that advertise. (Master Power Brakes offers a 10% discount to current members. On a complete system the savings is over $100) Access to the members only section of our web site which offers past issues on the magazine as well as other features. Access to our on-line E-group to contact other members about problems and to offer services and parts for sale. Access to arbitration services in case you feel that you have been "wronged" by a vendor. (This feature has been utilized by many members over the years. Here are just a few. The late Dennis Lempicki, was able to recoup over $300 dollars lost to a vendor. SMS interiors. One member was able to recoup the cost of a car cover even though he had put a hole in it for a radio antennae. Another member recouped over $100 he had paid for a shift boot that was faulty and when we discussed it with the vendor the money was refunded. At the start the vendor said tough luck. There have been a number of others, but those are the ones that come to mind the most.) Arbitration service between insurance companies. (This feature has also been utilized by many members over the years. Many times when an accident happens the party which the accident occurred will have an insurance company that just will not want to believe that the value of your antique Galaxie is more than a few hundred dollars. I cannot count the times that members and even non members have called us because of this problem. With a simple letterhead and letter written to explain the market value of their car, I can say that a number of members over the years were able to obtain the true value of their cars at closure. This alone could be considered "cheap" insurance and is, by itself one very good reason to be a member of our club. I know of one case where our letter enabled the accident victim to recover $8500.00 when the original offer was $1200! Which would YOU have preferred? Being a member pretty much guarantees the later. Remember that when it is time to renew.) Many insurance companies want you to be a member of a car club if you own an antique automobile. Well, we can be your club. It is for ANYONE who has a Galaxie. And there NEVER has been a "big stink" to kick non members off of the FGCoA list, EVER. Because NON members weren't allowed on in the first place. As for delinquent members, yes, they were asked to either pay their dues or to remove themselves. And as for WHAT you get with the FGCoA here is a list: You get lots more for .74 cents week then just being able to type email messages back and forth... You get a Bi monthly magazine dedicated to Galaxies including vendor advertising for Galaxie related services and parts. Access to arbitration services in case you feel that you have been ?wronged? by a vendor. This alone could be considered ?cheap? insurance and is, by itself one very good reason to be a member of our club. You do get more flys with honey(MARK) but it sure doesn't sound like anyone is trying to disrupt anything. I have been out of the club for over a year due to another middle east deployment with my reserve unit. It's time to get started on my Gal again and try and get her finished up. Message-ID: <8b64efe00903310415y2d37538emf8452d7813a71732@mail.gmail.com> Hi guys, I'm looking at a 1967 Galaxie 500 2 dr for a restoration project. Current owners says it has 'gold' colored shavings in the oil, which he suspects is from the owner prior not installing bearings properly during a rebuild(rod bearings?). Engine isn't knocking, sounds clean. Any idea what this could be/am I in for a real ride? Thanks! -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... At some point in the cars history, the carburetor was changed from a motorcraft 2100 to a 2150 for a later year. The car runs well but there are a lot of extra vacuum lines (for example the hose to a PVC valve) that are plugged. I am trying to track down a vacuum leak and thought I would pose a question to everyone. Is it worth changing the carburetor back to a MotorCraft 2100? Do you think I will get any performance improvements? Do you think it will help improve my vacuum pressure? Thanks! Brian -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
