<DIV>I don't believe rear seat belts were installed in most (if
any) '64's from the factory. Pretty common install for service
stations back in the 60's. Holes were drilled through the floorpan for the
install. I can check the assembly manual to see if there are any
identifying marks or dimples indicating a drilling location. Seatbelts
were not required until '68 I believe, so all cars prior have been
grandfathered. However, if you're pulled over in a car older than '68
that has seat belts, you must be wearing them. </DIV>

<DIV>California law does not allow people under 16 to ride without a seatbelt,
(regardless of the age of the vehicle) so my Galaxie sits most of the time now
(2 kids, don't want to drill) I may change my mind however.....would love
to take the whole family out for once!</DIV>

<P class=MsoNormal>My Father purchased and restored a 64 Galaxie convertible
and then decided that the car should passed on to my 10 year old son. So I
am now the caretaker of this car. I however just cannot drive it with the
kids in it and not have seatbelts, not to mention they want their friends to
come along. <o:p></o:p></P>
<P class=MsoNormal> I have pulled the rear seat but do not see any
place to install the belts as I was told there are in some 64’s. I am very
new at this and would greatly appreciate any help offered as I would prefer
to do the work with my son for all of the obvious reasons and because I am
in the midst of finishing an addition to the house and really can’t afford
to start paying for installations if it is not absolutely
necessary.<o:p></o:p></P>
